Designed for technicians. There's more repair news out there than anyone has time to read, so each issue I pull out one that's worth knowing; stuff you'll be glad didn't slip past. Short, on purpose.
The Honda That Isn't: An Overview of the Prologue
A did-you-know from Collision ProAssist, pulled from Honda’s Body Repair News
If a Prologue rolls into your shop, be aware this Honda EV is built on General Motors' Ultium platform, the same architecture under the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq. The badge says Honda, but a lot of the repair story reads GM.
The passenger compartment leans hard on high- and ultra-high-strength steel; no surprises there. And the roof is laser-brazed from the factory and replaced with a combination of welding, adhesives, and mechanical fasteners.
For scanning and collision repair diagnostics, GM's MDI-2 and the Techline Connect software must be used. "Do not use the DST-I or the iHDS" for this vehicle.
And because it's an EV, there are a number of disable, storage, and in-shop safety considerations included in this Body Repair News edition and in the Honda service information. Access the full document below.
This Month in BackBay: A Kia Carnival Rear Body Panel Puzzle
A BackBay Pro subscriber's 2025 Carnival showed up with a factory contradiction: the Kia-supplied rear body panel arrived with bulkhead extensions the published procedure never mentions. Cut them to match the manual, or pull both quarters and wheelhouses to install it as shipped? The answer took a trip from BackBay all the way to Kia's HQ in Korea, and it's already repeated on a K5 and an EV6.
